From a Dream by the Ocean to a Home for Travelers
Aqua House is hosted by Thushara and Shalika, with the support of Tharaka, Thushara’s youngest brother. Thushara brings over 15 years of experience in resort management and the hospitality industry, while Shalika gained valuable international experience during her seven years working in Korea. Tharaka trained at the London College of Hotel Management and has more than 10 years of experience in hotels both in Sri Lanka and overseas. Together, their combined knowledge and passion ensure that every guest is cared for in a warm, friendly atmosphere while enjoying an authentic Sri Lankan experience.
Aqua House is a family-owned and operated hotel offering quality rooms, fittings, and service. Thushara and Shalika have created a cozy and welcoming environment where guests can truly relax and feel at home. Each room features a private balcony with garden, jungle, or hill views — perfect for enjoying morning tea or coffee or a sunset drink, often accompanied by visits from monkeys, peacocks, and birds. In the evenings, a pair of mongoose frequently passes through the garden, adding to the charm of the surroundings.
Breakfast is lovingly prepared by Shalika and served on your balcony. Guests can enjoy her homemade Greek-style yogurt made from local buffalo curd, served with kithul palm honey. Goyambokka Beach is just a relaxed five-minute walk through the village, offering golden sand, coconut palms, and a peaceful tropical setting. Beach cafés provide sunbeds, refreshments, and lunch, and turtles are sometimes visible in the surf. For your convenience, beach bags with towels are provided in each room.
The village of Goyambokka offers a variety of local cafés and restaurants within walking distance, serving freshly caught seafood from the Tangalle Fish Market and traditional Sri Lankan curries, including vegetarian options. Many ingredients are locally grown or sourced from nearby markets, helping to reduce food miles and support sustainable practices. For destinations further afield, tuk-tuks or private transport can easily be arranged by Thushara.
Guests can enjoy up to 30 different activities in the surrounding area and within two hours’ travel. Each room includes a “What To Do” booklet with details on attractions, distances, and transport options. Thushara is happy to organize excursions and transport, as well as reliable airport transfers at reasonable rates, regardless of arrival or departure times.
Goyambokka is located on Sri Lanka’s south-eastern coast, known for its tropical beaches, fresh seafood, and welcoming people. The hotel is nestled within the coastal village beside its own picturesque beach. Visitors can enjoy cafés, galleries, temples, local markets, surfing, and relaxed dinners on the beach after sunset. Wildlife is part of daily life here — birds, monkeys, turtles, and mongoose are common sights, and occasionally even elephants pass through the area during temple processions or festivals.
Unlike busier tourist destinations, Goyambokka remains calm and authentic, offering travelers a genuine Sri Lankan village experience. The warmth of the local community and their welcoming smiles make every stay memorable.
